Sue and Bill Gross Women's Pavilion

In an unprecedented act of philanthropy, Bill Gross, Founder and CIO of PIMCO, and his wife Sue, made a $20M gift to Hoag in support of the Women’s Pavilion. The contribution was the largest in Hoag’s history and supports the largest expansion to the Hoag Hospital Newport Beach campus undertaken to date. In recognition of the gift, the new tower is named the Sue & Bill Gross Women’s Pavilion.

“For us, Orange County is home for both our family and business interests,” says Bill. “Personally, we wanted to give back in this special way to support the development of an important resource that impacts all of us who live in Southern California. We want to ensure Hoag remains an organization we can count on, right in our neighborhood.”

Part of the gift will endow the Women’s Wellness Center, to be called the Sue and Bill Gross Women’s Wellness Center, a groundbreaking program designed to benefit generations of women of all ages and all walks of life.

Adds Sue Gross, “Through the years, Hoag has demonstrated a commitment to quality, excellence and innovation and we are confident our support will be a proactive step in improving the health of women from throughout our community.”

"The Gross’ commitment to supporting the highest quality health care now and in the future our area residents is extraordinary and represents philanthropy at the highest level,”Richard Afable, M.D. president and CEO of Hoag. “The Women’s Pavilion is a milestone project in the history of Hoag and is a response to the expanding health care needs in Orange County.”

An all-encompassing center that combines progressive technology with patient education and comfort, the Sue & Bill Gross Women’s Pavilion is a seven-story, 320,000-square-foot facility that adds 80 beds and expanded clinical space. The new facility is strategically designed to address important variables such as ever-evolving technologies, health-care delivery modalities, population growth and healthcare needs specific to Orange County.
