Jamie Lee Curtis to Speak at Founders' Celebration Brunch

Newport Beach, Calif. (March 19, 2014) — The Circle 1000 committee and the Hoag Hospital Foundation are pleased to announce Jamie Lee Curtis, award-winning actress and best-selling author, as the keynote speaker at Circle 1000’s 27th Annual Founders’ Celebration Brunch on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the Island Hotel Newport Beach.
Jamie Lee Curtis is a film and television actress with starring roles in such acclaimed films as Halloween, Freaky Friday, True Lies, Trading Places, and A Fish Called Wanda. Additionally, Curtis is the best-selling author of ten children’s books, with over 5 million copies in print.

“We are thrilled to have Jamie Lee Curtis celebrate with Circle 1000 and share her personal story of how she has been touched by cancer,” said Circle 1000 Chair Beth Knapp. “Jamie will join a special group of past notable speakers that includes Nancy Reagan, Harry Belafonte, Sam Donaldson, Cokie Roberts, and Alan Hobson.”
The Circle 1000 annual brunch is an inspirational and priceless opportunity for cancer survivors, family, friends, and Hoag supporters to connect and commemorate the strides made in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Circle 1000 was founded in 1987 by Newport Beach resident and breast cancer survivor, Sandy Sewell, to gather a group of friends who would contribute a minimum of $1,000 annually, and each were tasked with asking their own circle of friends to participate. From those simple beginnings, Circle 1000 has expanded to more than 1,000 friends who have raised over $14.4 million for Hoag.
