Jack Sun, MD, MS, FRCSC, has joined Hoag as director of cardiovascular surgery at the Jeffrey M. Carlton Heart & Vascular Institute. A nationally recognized leader in complex cardiac procedures, Dr. Sun brings extensive experience in mitral valve repair, aortic surgery, minimally invasive techniques, and structural heart innovations. 

From the outset, Dr. Sun has emphasized the power of collaboration as the foundation for exceptional care. 

“Outstanding cardiac surgery doesn’t happen in isolation,” he shared. “It’s built on the strength of a coordinated team—surgeons, nurses, specialists, and support staff—working together to put the patient first. Philanthropy is helping expand Hoag’s cardiovascular care teams, including a dedicated and growing group of nurse practitioners. In 2024 alone, Hoag’s Jeffrey M. Carlton Heart & Vascular Institute performed more than 440 cardiothoracic procedures, earning high-performance rankings in five cardiac specialties from U.S. News & World Report. As the program continues to grow, philanthropy remains essential to advancing care through innovation, talent, and team-based excellence.
