Hoag Hospital Foundation celebrates Hoag Heritage Society

22nd Annual luncheon recognizes contributions of planned giving donors

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., March 3, 2016 --- For the 22nd year, the Hoag Hospital Foundation honored a group of 200 philanthropists who have generously supported Hoag through planned gifts during its annual Hoag Heritage Society Luncheon, March 3, 2016, at Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach. True to the event’s theme, You Are the Magic, the audience was treated to a performance by World Champion Magician Jonny Ace Palmer.

“Planned gifts make a positive impact on Hoag today and in the future,” said Flynn A. Andrizzi, PhD, president of Hoag Hospital Foundation. “The Hoag Heritage Society Luncheon allows us to recognize this visionary group of donors and celebrate the ways their estate gifts will support Hoag in delivering exceptional care to Orange County for generations to come.”

Terry Bridges, with his wife Sharon, has been a faithful Hoag supporter for 15 years. He took the stage to share the couple’s personal Hoag story. Two years ago, when Sharon was diagnosed with two giant aneurisms and subsequently developed nearly fatal complications, Terry recalled his trust in the expertise of Dr. Ben Nguyen and the nurses at Hoag. He spoke from the heart about the couple’s joy in giving back to Hoag through a planned gift to benefit nursing excellence through education.

“I have Sharon back and we wanted to say thank you to Hoag for everything they have done for us, everything they will do for us and everything they have done for our community,” he said. “We wanted the joy of giving during our lifetime and seeing the impact of our gift. The Hoag Hospital Foundation gave us the opportunity to make a significant gift in a way that felt comfortable and secure to us.”

Members of the Hoag Heritage Society also receive financial and tax benefits through their support. Planned gifts support every area across Hoag.
