Step inside the new gateway to compassionate care and groundbreaking innovation in Irvine.
On August 22, Hoag celebrated a major milestone in its ongoing expansion with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Du Family Hospital Pavilion entrance, now open on the Sun Family Campus in Irvine. The event brought together Hoag leaders, supporters, and the generous families whose philanthropy helped bring the vision to life.
In attendance were Benjamin and Carmela Du, along with their family members, as well as members of the Sun family—whose visionary support and generosity laid the foundation for the broader expansion of the Sun Family Campus. While the celebration marked a milestone for the Du Family Hospital Pavilion, it also highlighted the continued evolution of a campus shaped by enduring philanthropic leadership and a shared commitment to advancing healthcare in the region.
Serving as the gateway to compassionate care and innovation, the Du Family Hospital Pavilion connects patients and visitors to a wide array of services and facilities, anchoring the campus and Hoag’s commitment to patient-centered healthcare.
In a heartfelt address during the ceremony, Benjamin Du reflected on his family’s longstanding partnership with Hoag:
“Our earlier gift (to Hoag’s Irvine hospital) helped build the Emergency Pavilion, and seeing how it’s served this community in moments of real crisis has been one of the most meaningful experiences of our lives,” he said. “It’s a reminder that giving isn’t about buildings—it’s about people... This new building is a continuation of that belief—that healthcare should be excellent, accessible, and rooted in community. It may carry our name, but it represents the work of so many.”
Looking ahead, Hoag’s growth on the Sun Family Campus in Irvine continues with the 2026 opening of the Surgical Pavilion, which will expand access to advanced surgical services and technology. Following that, development will progress on the north side of the Sun Family Campus, including the Cancer & Digestive Hospital and Outpatient Pavilion, and the Women’s Hospital and Women’s Outpatient Pavilion. These facilities will significantly broaden Hoag’s specialized care offerings, creating a comprehensive health destination designed to meet the evolving needs of patients and families across the region.
