We are witnessing history in the making at Hoag.
Over the past several weeks, we have celebrated the opening of the expanded Hoag Hospital Irvine Sun Family Campus through a series of meaningful moments, each reflecting the people, generosity, and purpose behind this remarkable achievement.
In August, friends and supporters of the Boldly Hoag campaign gathered to celebrate the extraordinary generosity that helped make this campus possible. It was a special opportunity to recognize and celebrate the collective impact of philanthropy and the commitment of those who contributed to the Boldly Hoag campaign.
On September 19, we honored two people whose generosity and friendship have been central to this story with the unveiling of a portrait of Diana and David Sun, whose names grace the Hoag Hospital Irvine Sun Family Campus. Renowned portrait artist David Larned painted the portrait, which appears alongside a quote from Diana that beautifully captures the spirit of the Boldly Hoag campaign’s community support: “There’s a Chinese saying that talks about how individual grains of sand can be gathered to form a tower. Our gift is what we can give. Regardless of the amount, when many come together to give what they can, they can build something exceptional.”
Diana and David are dedicated friends of Hoag and caring people who believe in helping others. Their transformational giving helped bring this campus to life and will touch generations of patients and families.
After the portrait unveiling, an inspiring ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Hoag leadership and elected officials commemorated a historic milestone as we officially marked the opening of the Hoag Hospital Irvine Sun Family Campus. Throughout the weekend, record crowds of employees, supporters, and community members came together at Hoag’s World of Wonder, exploring the new campus through interactive experiences, innovation showcases, and tours that offered a firsthand look at this transformative new chapter for Hoag.
These moments celebrated what we built together and what lies ahead. Because of donor generosity, Hoag has more opportunities to expand care, advance research and medical discovery, and create new possibilities for patients and our community.
