Expanding Specialized Women’s Services in Irvine

Since the opening of Hoag Hospital Irvine in 2010, Hoag has been serving the communities of Irvine and South Orange County with outstanding and culturally responsive health care. As health care changes and Orange County’s needs grow, Hoag will once again transform health care delivery in Irvine. Hoag’s significant investment will include the construction of the Women’s Health Institute Pavillion that will be recognized as a destination center and meet the full spectrum of women’s unique health care needs. Philanthropic support will enable Hoag to expand and enhance women’s services in Irvine in the following key areas:

  • Comprehensive maternity services, including expanded obstetrical offerings and uniquely designed labor, delivery and recovery suites
  • Multidisciplinary breast and gynecologic services that address care across the continuum and incorporate wellness support
  • Research and clinical trials that bring the latest advances in health care directly to our community

4th Trimester Program

The 4th trimester–the period of time immediately after the birth of a new baby–can be physically and emotionally challenging for a new mom. The Women’s Health Institute is committed to being alongside these women during this significant life transition. The 4th Trimester Program provides comprehensive and supportive care for maternal mood and anxiety disorders in collaboration with the Women’s Health Institute’s Maternal Mental Health Program. Philanthropy will also support new innovations in maternal health and wellness services, including virtual, 24/7 lactation support through a mobile application called Hoag Pacify, which was established to help families experience a healthy and successful transition from the delivery room to the home environment. It will also enable virtual reality therapeutic treatment, education and engagement offerings

Women’s Cancer Care

Hoag Women’s Health Institute provides comprehensive and patient-centered care for women’s cancers. As cancer science and research progress at an increasingly fast pace, philanthropy will facilitate important advancements in the Breast Cancer and Gynecologic Cancer Programs, both of which are already nationally recognized for exceptional patient outcomes. Donor support will ensure Hoag patients have access to the newest diagnostic and treatment options, including those still in clinical testing, along with innovative preventive care for women who are at increased risk of developing breast or gynecologic cancers.

Care Coordination

The health care system is complex and often difficult for patients to navigate alone. With multiple providers and, in many cases, more than one health condition, patients are often left feeling uncertain in how and when to access the care they need. The Women’s Health Institute is committed to providing coordinated care for every patient through nurse navigators who provide support, guidance and education to patients and their families, helping them access and then chart a course through the health care system. There is currently no insurance reimbursement for navigation services, and philanthropy is essential in the Women’s Health Institute’s ability to make this vital resource available to every patient.
