With Community Always In Mind
The community benefit efforts of the Melinda Hoag Smith Center for Healthy Living (MHSCHL) have made a tremendous impact on the community, improving the lives of both individuals and families in need since it opened in 2016. The goal of MHSCHL is to provide assistance to the underserved and at-risk individuals and families in our community. A variety of services address the needs of mind and body, reflecting MHSCHL’s holistic philosophy of caring for the entire person. We aim to provide culturally sensitive services and resources that enable prevention, address the root causes of disease and improve health outcomes.
Through philanthropy, MHSCHL continues to grow as it provides more services, classes and offerings. Since 2016, MHSCHL has grown to include 35 agency partners. In a single year, these organizations supported 51,937 patient encounters. Those services include everything from health education and legal aid to mental health and social support for the most vulnerable among us. We look forward to MHSCHL’s continued growth and to providing critical assistance to those in need.
Donors, patients and their families, physicians, nurses, community members—these are the people who make up the Hoag family. These are their stories. Everyone at Hoag is proud and honored to have played a part in so many stories of hope, healing, giving and compassion.
