Volunteer Opportunities
Hoag Hospital is very fortunate to have a very dedicated base of community support. Over the years, thousands of people have volunteered their time, energy and financial resources for the benefit of others. As we move ahead with Renaissance Hoag, volunteer involvement and support will be critical to our success.
There are numerous volunteer opportunities with the Hoag Hospital Foundation. Leadership volunteers will be needed to help lead campaigns for the five major Centers of Excellence - Hoag Cancer Center, Hoag Heart and Vascular Institute, Hoag Neurosciences Center, Choose Nursing, Choose Hoag, and Women's Health and Wellness. Please contact Greg Gissendanner at (949)764-7209
for more information on how you can become involved as a leadership volunteer.
In addition, numerous volunteers will be needed to support events such as the Christmas Carol Ball, Movie Premier, Regatta, Toshiba Classic, and the Stag Shoot. Please contact Jake Rohrer at (949)764-7218 for more information on how you can volunteer for these events and for 552 Club membership information.
Volunteers are also needed throughout the hospital. For information on Hoag Auxiliary and volunteer opportunities available through Hoag Hospital, please call (949)764-8252.
Leadership Volunteers
Some Thoughts to Consider
- The Hoag Memorial Hospital Board of Directors has approved and will monitor performance of the revenue strategy that will complete the Renaissance Hoag plan.
- The Hoag Hospital Foundation Board has been charged with raising $315 million over the next 10 years to help complete the plan.
- In the context of that plan, volunteers will be engaged to help implement that strategy.
- No one person is expected to do everything.
- Expectations of volunteer involvement and participation will involve commitments of leadership, time, connections, and financial support.
- Fulfilling these commitments will encourage others to participate in the campaign.
Fundraising Expectations for Volunteers
Defining expectations of our leadership volunteers will add to the success of the Renaissance Hoag campaign. Through their participation as donors, leadership volunteers will play a key part in the fundraising effort and send an important signal to others of their commitment to its success.
Leadership Volunteers will be asked to do the following:
Make a Gift
- Every volunteer should be prepared to make a gift up to their personal financial abilities.
- This is the initial buy-in and their personal circumstances only matter in terms of what gift they might make - not whether they would make a gift at all.
- Without making a gift commitment it is almost impossible to endorse the need for others to make a gift.
Provide Leadership
- Provide leadership to implement the campaign including identifying others who can be cultivated for involvement and financial support..
- Provide advice on how to best engage the community in our efforts.
Make Connections
- Use your personal and professional connections to open doors to leaders and prospects throughout the community.
- This may involve calling and securing a meeting with identified leaders and prospects and attending those meetings where appropriate.
Participate in Cultivation Events
- Individual volunteers may opt to conduct and/or participate in small, personal cultivation events, usually at their home or other intimate setting.
- Those attending will be asked to assist, make a gift, open doors and lend their name.
In short, the participation and financial support from leadership volunteers in the Renaissance Hoag campaign is very important and will demonstrate their leadership and commitment to its success. This will encourage others to join with us as we move forward in our campaign efforts.
