The $10 Million Challenge
Anonymous donors have pledged $10 million to the Hoag Heart and Vascular Institute (HHVI) and have challenged other major donors to provide support. The challenge issued is twofold: first to seek at least two gifts of $5 million each and second, to achieve an additional $10 million from many donors as a kickoff to philanthropic support for the expansion of the heart institute, endowment and program development. This exciting goal, once achieved, would result in $30 million of private support by December 2007. This would represent phase one of fund raising for HHVI with a total goal of $93 million by 2012.
Funding from the challenge results will be used in the following way:
- Develop and expand "centers" within the Hoag Heart and Vascular Institute.
- Heart Valve Center
- Advanced Cardiac Imaging Center
- Cardiac Rehabilitation and Wellness Center
- Create endowed chairs and fellowships to recruit and retain a new generation of medical leadership in these specialties.
- Acquire and upgrade the most advanced equipment for cardiac care.
- Complete design and begin construction of the HHVI within the new Critical Care Tower.
How it works
We welcome the opportunity to provide a detailed briefing and explore your interest in partnering with us on the $10 million challenge.
