International Expert in Breast Cancer Surgery Joins Hoag Hospital   More

The next phase of Choose Nursing, Choose Hoag will focus on the following:

• Expand Nursing Endowment Funds - with each additional professor that is funded, 12 new students will be accepted from the extensive waiting lists at local universities. Nursing Endowments Funds will ensure that scholarships and nursing professorships are available each year in perpetuity.

• Nursing scholarships will allow Hoag nurses to work toward career-advancing degrees that will increase the quality of care given at the hospital. These scholarships target those completing their BSN and MSN degrees.

• Educational opportunities and high-level conferences at the Marion Knott Nursing Education Center will provide training, orientation and mentoring for new nurses at Hoag, and licensure and career advancement classes for established Hoag nurses. This will included training on the latest technology and most advanced nursing skills.

• Loyalty and retention among our existing nursing staff will be the greatest measure of success. Projects will be designed to encourage and motivate our nurses to new levels of quality and expertise. Funding will be used to establish lecture series that will attract nationally renowned nursing educators and offer innovative opportunities to develop and deliver the latest best practices. This new knowledge and expertise will strengthen our highest quality standards and provide exceptional care for our patients and their families.

• Technology endowments will ensure that Hoag nurses have the latest patient care technologies and requisite levels of training to improve upon Hoag's already excellent patient outcomes.
