A New Model for Cancer Care
Cancer treatment and care continues to evolve from a model of general cancer care to a more site specific model. The Hoag Cancer Center will build upon our exceptional strengths to expand and focus the HCC modeled after world renowned cancer centers at Dana Farber, M.D. Anderson, and the Mayo Clinic.
Hoag will develop a “Center of Excellence” in this Site (or Specialty) Specific model. The expansion described in Renaissance Hoag will make room for the recruitment of nationally known clinicians and researchers who will focus on site specific cancers – breast, lung, prostate, colorectal, GI, gynecological, melanoma, head/neck, brain, and blood. These experts will bring specific, high level knowledge into a collaborative environment providing a new level of cancer care for our patients.
Phase I is underway with the development of the Breast Cancer Center and the appointment of Drs. Gary Levine and Lincoln Snyder as Medical Directors. This state-of-the-art center is providing comprehensive diagnostic, treatment, reconstruction, and support services to patients from around the world. Future expansion of this center and other site specific specialties will occur through Renaissance Hoag. Currently, hospital leadership is looking for the very best and has identified several top people in specialty areas of interest. Recruitment is underway and will expand as progress is made in developing private support.
