2009 Accomplishments

Accomplishments for Hoag Hospital Foundation are measured in terms of funds raised, cost of funds raised, endowments built, monies distributed, key hospital initiatives funded and the resulting recognized excellence of Hoag. Here are a few highlights from our 2009 successes.

HHF Efficiency:

§         Hoag Hospital Foundation (HHF) strives to spend no more than an average of 15 cents on fund-raising administration for each dollar raised and has a three-year average of 11.4 cents (FY 2006 to 2009).
§         When compared to the national average of 25 cents for community hospitals, HHF is among the most efficient in the nation. The Mayo Clinic and Cedar Sinai both operate at the similar rates as Hoag.

Hospital Distributions

§         In 2009, Hoag Hospital Foundation (HHF) distributed over $20M to Hoag Hospital to support Renaissance Hoag (RH) initiatives.

§         All funds are used exclusively for programs that have a direct, positive impact on the health and well being of our community. Donated funds are not used for routine normal hospital operating expenses.

§         Funds raised by HHF pay for advanced technology and facilities, world-renowned staff and medical innovations which would not be possible without HHF activities. A few recent examples include:

§         Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center
§         Hoag Cancer Center Tomotherapy
