Q: How are donated funds used?
A: All funds are used exclusively for programs that have a direct, positive impact on the health and well being of our community. Donated funds are not used for normal hospital operating expenses. Funds pay for advanced technology and facilities, world-renowned staff and medical innovations which would not be possible without HHF activities. A few recent examples include

Q: May I direct my gift to a specific department or program in the hospital?

Q: Why does Hoag Hospital Foundation put funds in endowments?
A: Hoag Hospital Foundation (HHF) is building a $100M endowment to ensure long-term success for important community resources, such as the Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center and the Hoag Cancer Center, by providing a permanent revenue source. HHF endowments will provide financial security and sustainability of important programs at the hospital that do not have a reimbursement revenue stream.
Q: May I apply for a grant from Hoag Hospital Foundation?
A: Hoag Hospital Foundation is not a grant-making foundation. We are chartered to raise funds specifically to support the programs and projects of Hoag Hospital. We are ethically and legally bound to use the funds we receive for the purposes for which they are solicited. Hoag Hospital Foundation does not make grants to outside organizations or individuals.
Q: But I know that Hoag supports Share OurSelves and other community organizations. How is that different?
A: Hoag Hospital returns a generous portion of its operating revenues to the community by making grants through its Department of Community Medicine. Those grants are funded by the Hospital, not by Hoag Hospital Foundation.
