Women's Health Services

Hoag Women's Health Services have been carefully designed to meet a woman's need throughout her lifespan. Our programs are founded on an understanding that there is a complexity unique to women and a growing body of medical knowledge specific to women's health issues. So, Hoag devotes significant resources to an entire continuum of care for women encompassing education, prevention, screening, treatment and follow-up.

The opening of the Sue and Bill Gross Women's Pavilion at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian signaled the completion of the first major step in the hospital's 10-year expansion - Renaissance Hoag. An all-encompassing center that combines progressive technology with patient education and comfort, the Sue and Bill Gross Women's Pavilion is a seven-story, 320,000-square-foot facility that adds nearly 80 beds and expanded clinical space.

The Women's Pavilion has been carefully planned to meet the needs of this community's growing and aging population. It has been strategically designed to address important variables such as ever-evolving technologies and healthcare delivery modalities, population growth and healthcare needs specific to Orange County residents today, and in the years to come.

Women's Wellness Center
It includes the Women's Wellness Center, a ground-breaking program designed to benefit generations of women of all ages and from all walks of life. The Women's Wellness Center employs scientific research and revolutionary technology to help women make more informed health decisions and encourage early disease detection and prevention. It delivers a revolutionary, integrated approach to healthcare and is the first of its kind in Southern California.

Sue and Bill Gross Women's Pavilion
The Women's Pavilion is Orange County's ultimate healthcare resource. It houses an expanded, modernized laboratory at basement level that increased the clinical lab's space to more than 13,000-square-feet. The first floor is your gateway to a hospitality center featuring a café, a gift shop, an outdoor garden, a large health resource center for patient education and information, and comfortable, new visitor waiting areas. Also on the first floor are Hoag Breast Care Center and continence center.

The third and fourth floors of the Women's Pavilion each contain 41 new private patient rooms. Each of the private rooms includes its own restroom and shower, plus a spacious sitting area for family members and friends.

The third floor provides pre-operative and post-surgery recovery for short-stay surgical patients of the Ambulatory Surgery and Procedure Center. The fourth floor nursing unit cares for medical/surgical patients who require a longer hospital stay. This floor also contains its own satellite pharmacy to efficiently support the surgery recovery needs of patients in this unit.

Floors five through seven-maternity services-are the core of the Women's Pavilion. These floors provide space to accommodate the increase in births experienced over the last five years and expected to continue. The fifth floor also features 18 state-of-the-art labor, delivery and recovery suites; three operating rooms for Caesarean sections; and a seven-bed antepartum unit for women with pre-delivery risk.

Floor six expands Hoag's comprehensive maternity services with a 21-bassinet neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and expanded areas for fetal diagnostics and neonatology services. This unit also features a range of new accommodations for parents of NICU babies, including dedicated postpartum rooms near the NICU, kitchen facilities and window views into the NICU.

The seventh floor boasts 42 private rooms, ideal for new families. These rooms foster a family-centered environment and feature plenty of space for mother, father and baby to bond during those first few days together.

Women's Health is a significant "Center of Excellence" for Hoag Hospital and a true model for modern healthcare delivery. The completion of the Sue and Bill Gross Women's Pavilion is a critical first step in making Renaissance Hoag a reality and represents our ability to fulfill on an important promise to the community.
