Emergency Department Renovation/Expansion
Increased demand is stretching patient care capabilities in the Hoag Emergency Department (ED) as the number of patients treated continues to grow with the community. There is also an increase in the number of patients seen in the ED with chest pain, breathing difficulty, or abdominal complaints who require constant monitoring and extensive testing. All of these factors contribute to longer waits and higher stress for patients and families.

To meet this growing demand and provide the community with the very best emergency care, Hoag is more than doubling the capacity of the ED and renovating it to provide faster, more private service. We are moving from curtained off beds to private rooms equipped with the latest technology. The expanded waiting room will be more pleasant and comfortable with a calm décor and a children’s play area. The expanded exterior will have a covered entrance with improved traffic flow and valet parking.
When combined with the concurrent renovation and expansion of the adjacent Radiology Department, the ED will provide better and faster access to imaging services vital to leading-edge emergency care.
This project will have an immediate and lasting impact on emergency care in our community and philanthropic support will be important to its success. For more information, contact Floyd Harmon at the Hoag Hospital Foundation, 949-764-7213 or floyd.harmon@hoaghospital.org.
